I had uncontrolled epilepsy for over 20 years. As seizures began in the form of slight auras, it went undiagnosed for some time. When I finally had a cognizable seizure, I was placed on numerous anti-seizure meds in the years that followed, none of which worked.

The notion of surgery scared me. However, when I was no longer qualified to drive, I gave in. CC, by way of Dr. Najm, Dr. Luders and Dr. Bingaman, was convinced that surgery was my best option. Importantly, the doctors performed extensive testing to assure that my quality of life would not suffer by way of removal of three areas of my brain that contained "focal points" (seizure triggers).

Although a portion of my surgery was near my brain's memory center (the left temporal lobe), by way of a calculated undertaking, I was sufficiently restored. I was able to return to work as an attorney, and I now drive a Volvo with a moon roof every day.
