Dorothy Thomas's Letter

To the future not yet born,

To the future yet unborn, this is just to say;

You may well wonder why governments’ past seemed not to care
and closed their eyes and ears leaving the damage for you to repair.

You may wonder why the people past did nothing to alleviate your fate;
please believe there were those that tried, yet many denied until it was too late.

You may well wonder why our planet has been left in such a sorry plight,
already I hear your cry that it is us who should put past wrongs right

On behalf of generations past I say sorry for all injustice wrought;
please, for the earth’s sake, heed what our mistakes have taught.

Seize the day (carpe diem).
