Edwin Naughton's Letter

To my young friend, Maria,

Dear Maria, I'm quite old now and have enjoyed the world for over seventy years. I have travelled around the British Isles and Europe and have experienced the beauties of the earth and of human culture. I have also lived and worked for a while in Africa and have seen how important it is to support the people and wildlife there. Africa has been affected by climate change for decades and droughts and famines are much more frequent.

At the present time I am trying to live sustainably but my efforts to halt climate change are a drop in the ocean. We need governments and large corporations to reduce the emissions and pollution which are warming our planet. This needs to be done rapidly. We have already wasted a lot of time. If this is not done, you will not have the chance to enjoy your life, and our amazing world as I have done. Let us hope that our leaders will listen.
