Eleanor's Letter

To my grandsons,

Sometimes I think about the kind of world you will be living in ten, twenty or thirty years from now. I worry about the effect the changing climate is having on so many things - the wildlife you enjoy, the food you eat, the work you'll do, the places you'll want to visit. You know that I am passionate about supporting the farmers in the developing world who grow our tea, coffee, bananas, cocoa beans and so much more, by buying Fairtrade food and championing the Fairtrade movement. This not only supports farmers by importing and marketing their produce, but also by advising them how to improve their yield, how to adapt to the changing climate, how to diversify their output and how to build strong local communities. I hope that you too will be able to influence your friends to take an active part in trying to make the world a better place, so that everyone has the chance to thrive.
