Elizabeth Hart's Letter

To my grandson Wren (3),

I hope you are enjoying life surrounded by beautiful countryside in a country that has led the way in developing green technology to protect the planet, and is now reaping the rewards of an expanding economy with no people living in poverty.

I fear that the opposite will happen because of government plans to deregulate the countryside, develop more airports and nuclear power stations, and has made no provision for financing green energy like tidal. Plans for a power station in Cardiff Bay powered by the tide have been refused by the Westminster Government despite the full backing of the Welsh Assembly. How narrow minded is that in this time of Climate Change?

When will they grasp the opportunities going green offers the economy instead of doing what their backers want by keeping oil centre stage and destroying people's futures in the process?

Love from
Grandma
