Elspeth Pighills's Letter

To my grandchildren ,

We tried. I hope we succeeded. We saw what the politicians wouldn’t - that we are all past, present and future custodians of this fragile and beautiful planet.

Yes, we have to eat. Yes, we shouldn’t go backwards. Yes, we need to look at our own way of life before condemning others. That’s why I I buy as organic and plastic-free as possible. That’s why I’ve taught your parents to buy as organic and plastic-free as possible. And I hope that, by the time you are old enough to buy things for yourself, you will think about what you’re buying and how it will affect other people here and abroad.

I hope that politicians read this, and I hope that they and all the immoral bankers and financiers and oilmen listen to people pointing out their greed.

There is a Cree Indian prophecy: “Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.”

I hope and pray that God will step in and save the Earth and prove that prophecy wrong.

With all my love GeeGee
