Michael Welton's Letter
To my son and daughter, Jasper and Dorrie,
I hope we get to 2030 realising that 2022 was a turning point, when we realised the danger that man-made climate change and biodiversity loss was critical, and civil society turned on an uncaring government run for profit, not for the planet.
Millions of people across the country have been waiting for leadership to build a better, low-carbon future. It's great to see the National Trust, RSPB and other environmental organisations campaigning from the front. We now know that nobody is going to do it for us. We have to do it ourselves. You will be the judges of whether your parent's generation have succeeded or failed. I hope we live up to the challenge.
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change. Find out how you can get involved.
