Michelle Draycott's Letter
To my young friend Elsie,
When I was young I was lucky to be surrounded by wildlife.
The countryside was full of living ponds, huge flocks of starlings, butterflies and many insects.
I want you to have that chance in the future.
We live on a fragile and beautiful planet and our politicians have to work to protect it.
I am writing this to you in hope that the people in power have acted and done everything they can to avert the climate crisis.
I really hope this letter reaches you in a better future, that politicians have protected our planet and the looked after all the species we share it with. That you still have seasons and can see the world with hope not dread.
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change. Find out how you can get involved.
