X's Letter

my future self,

I have known about the destruction of the ‘natural world’ by humans for so long. I don’t know how long I will live but I want to be as resilient as possible and do all I can so that people younger than me have the best possible future that they can.
There is so much beauty in the world. That includes people coming together to do good things and enjoy making a positive difference.
I imagine a world of the near future where people, especially young people can talk and have good spaces to share their fears and find the energy and love to do things about living sustainably.
I look forward to Preston being a sustainable city using green energy solutions and taking care of green spaces so everyone can have better mental health and biodiversity of all species in Preston can flourish. The trees will provide shade and people will be able to gather. Pollution can come down! We can have more cycle lanes and restrict car use. People with mobility problems can still use them to help them but I hope that in the future I will still be using active travel and more people will be walking and cycling when they can and using public transport.
I know there will be a lot of problems but dear future self – I hope that you and your family and friends and the City of Preston will be doing – continue to be doing – things that need to be done for the further future as well as the near future.
Keep as safe and as well as you can.
